I mean, Tom Holland's Aunt May died before he even knew anything like that. There was no way he could have prevented his aunt from dying like Miles has the chance to do.
True I do love the idea that Miles chooses to ignore the âSpider-Man curseâ because of his choice to make his own path and prevent his loved ones death and that the other Spider folk donât understand because of what that loss did to help them become the heroes they are.
If miles was a mistake, he wasnât meant to be bitten, the spider was from another dimension
How come itâs canon that his dad needs to die?
Also when they showed all the spider peoples deaths in a long row, the last one was miles over Aaronâs dead body. I thought that was a clear indication that Aaron was his death canon motivator thing
But he also needs to lose his dad?
I also donât really know if it works that every other Spider-Man wouldnât be on Milesâ side. The âwe have to tryâŚthere must be a wayâ desperate NEED to do the right thing is Spider-Man 101 so idk if hundreds of other Spider-Man trying to stop him works.
Maybe an outcast group of jaded, mean Spider-Man with especially rough universes⌠but hundreds were trying to stop him
??
Like I swear spectacular Spider-Man and insomniac Spider-Man would NOT chase miles and try to stop him
But itâs film of the life and who cares

I think even though he wasnât meant to be the spider-man of that world, once he got bit by the spider he got set down the âSpider-Man pathâ, so he would still experience what every spider person goes through even if he wasnât meant to be one. Also youâre correct Uncle Aaron is meant to be his Uncle Ben. They emphasized the one heâd lose would be the police captain he confided in, it just happens miles dad is also captain he confides in of his universe. Spider-Man as a character (Atleast from the comics and further adaptations) deals with heavy loses to strengthen himself as a hero. Honestly itâs a tragic character
I think the next one will be miles dad reunites with miles uncle from the other universe and turns on the new prowler because of it
This movie almost felt like golden age Pixar in its exploration and fun creative interpretations of Spider-Man mythology stuff
Monsters Inc world = playing with our collective knowledge of monsters and things that scare us as kids -> inventing a systematic world around it
Coco world = playing with our interpretations of death and the afterlife -> inventing a systematic world around it
Inside out world = playing with emotions and growing up -> inventing a systematic world around it
Across Spiderverse Spider-Man compound place = playing with our knowledge of Spider-Man canon -> inventing a systematic world around it
Even the plot conflict of the whole institution saying one thing has to happen & the protagonist hero character defying that and going against the rules is super Pixar
The worry shouldnât be about this Miles going to the live action MCU, it should be Miles going to the SSU
Gwenâs dad not being captain means heâs avoided being the victim of the âinevitable chapterâ of a police captain dying
It could be any captain but they have to die
Oh so the captain doesnât need to have any sort of emotional significance to the spider-man of that world? That would explain Tobeyâs âcannonâ because he never had a captain figure
If miles was a mistake, he wasnât meant to be bitten, the spider was from another dimension

naw the captain dying is canon event in all spidermans timeline apparently starting with comic book captain stacy

ohhh the captain
that makes sense
good call
Spider punk was honestly the best character in this
The one character I didnât really get the hype behind. The character design was sick af but critics were making it seem like heâs one of the best things about the movie

As stated by James Cromwell who played Captain Stacy in Spider-Man 3, In the script for the unmade Spider-Man 4 both Captain Stacey and Gwen were suppose to die early on to up the stakes, so it technically was going to happen just wasnât able to be shown
In Hollandâs Spider-Man Captain America died
jk I know heâs still alive

Captain America is on an island with iron man and og war machine drinking margaritas
Questions for anyone who may have an answer:
1. Isnât Gwen technically an anomaly too now because her dad isnât captain anymore?
2. Why does Milesâ dad dying matter for the captain death cannon thing if heâs an anomaly who shouldnât have been bitten by that spider in the first place?
My reading of the âweb of lifeâ setup was that not every spider-man has to have the exact same thing happen to them, but there are several specific events that tie groups of them together.
The police captain death is only one of many common variables. Others mentioned would be Uncles and Gwens dying.
Not every Spider-Man has close ties with a police captain but if they do theyâre dead.
Gwen wouldnt be considered an anomaly because her origin is still intact. Her initial tragedy was her Peter dying.
Your second question will probably be answered in the sequel.

2. Miguel says heâs known that miles was an anomaly and that heâs been trying to hold everything together. I assume that if Miles dad doesnât die, that would be another anomaly and his dimension wouldnât be able to handle it and it would disappear just like Miguelâs
If miles was a mistake, he wasnât meant to be bitten, the spider was from another dimension

f***ing thank you. tired of people sucking this movie's story d*** off
wasnt film of life but probably 3rd best spidey movie after first 2 raimiverse i shed some thug tears off nostalgia
The animation/art design for Gwen Stacy's universe is absolutely beautiful.
facts, best parts of the movie easy
The animation/art design for Gwen Stacy's universe is absolutely beautiful.
the scenes with her and her dad were insane
The animation/art design for Gwen Stacy's universe is absolutely beautiful.
The way in the emotional moments with her dad at the beginning & the end, the world slowly got more and more abstract and blissful
like every time the camera would cut to the other person, itâd be a bit more abstract

This whole film is just brilliant. I also really loved the art direction for The Spot's flashback sequences too.

You get it!
They truly used the animation to emotional ends in a way that totally knocked me out.
