She betrayed him by not telling him about his dad âneedingâ to die? Or?
Wouldn't say that it's "betrayal" per se. But it does highlight the overarching theme of most Spider-Man stories about keeping secrets from loved ones and how that puts a strain on those relationships.
I don't think Gwen withheld that information because she wanted Miles' father to die. She probably kept it to herself because she either didn't want Miles' universe to become unraveled after he prevents it, or because she felt that trying to save his father would be futile since that's one of the events that "has to happen" to every Spider-Man because of destiny.
One thing I don't really like about Miguel/2099 is just how deadset he is on keeping things canon. And ultimately, yes, he is supposed to serve as representation of the purist Spider-Man fanboys who always b**** and moan about things being canon and Spider-Man "needing to suffer" in order to be Spider-Man. But it's just wack to me that even though he knows people are gonna die and he has the tech to help the other Spider-Men prevent those deaths, he just doesn't let them save those people.
Take Superior Spider-Man for example when Doc Ock was running around as Peter. Despite how evil he is, the thing that he was never able to do was allow someone to die or be harmed when he was fully capable of doing something to prevent it. The mind/spirit of Peter kept Doc Ock from ignoring those in danger because that's the one thing that Spider-Man always does. Helps those in need, even if it means sacrificing himself.
Looking forward to that inevitable drop in Beyond the Spider-Verse which is gonna make Miguel start questioning if he really is a "true" Spider-Man. And I'm pretty sure it's going to lead to a moment that is gonna have Miguel sacrifice himself in order to save either Miles, or someone close to Miles.
ya
he doesnât need to die, spider society wildin
Thatâs not rly a betrayal tho imo cause she was on the fence about them which is why she didnât fully listen to their orders about ignoring miles lol

I mean s***, the whole reason why Miles exists and became Spider-Man in the first place is because he was inspired by the sacrifice his universe's Peter made.
If there's anything I learned from the 20 or so years I spent reading Spider-Man comics, one thing just as canon as Uncle Ben and Captain Stacy dying, it's Spider-Man sacrificing himself.

Iâm asking, not making a statement. Multiple people last page are referring to Gwenâs betrayal but I have no idea what big betrayal theyâre talking about tbh lol
Why did they decide to go with the name Hobie Brown? Am I missing something?
The prowler from the original spider man comics (616) is named Hobart brown. Itâs only in miles universe (1610) that the prowler is Aaron Davis. So spider punk is technically an alternate universe Spider-Man AND an alternate universe hobie brown / prowler
Could Miguel be lying to everyone? I got the vibes that he f***ed up the timeline he was in somehow and now is trying to make everyone suffer like him
But I could have been misreading that my audio was f***ed up

He did f*** it up but I moreso think he has a deep misunderstanding of the spider man canon. Nerd needs to read more comics
I'm not a role model
I was briefly a runway model
I hate the am
I hate the pm
I'm not a hero cause calling yourself a hero makes you self mythologizing narcissistic autocrat
I hate the pm was such a fire double entendre I only caught on the second viewing (prime minister)
Spot hits this really interesting pose right here
it feels so comic book and looks like a reference but I canât pin down where itâs from
Comic book fans help me out
The scene when he was looking through the window of the convenience store, something about that screamed classic Black art to me
I donât know, they seem to be pushing the imagery very heavily.
And thereâs also the fact that her entire story arc can easily be seen as an a***ogy for coming out.
Can't blue and pink just be nice colors?
It's the same way you can't just look at a rainbow as just as a rainbow?

One thing I havenât seen anyone talk about which is blowing my mind is the fact that we see Miguel injecting himself with something during his monologue scene. I feel like thatâs going to be as important to the plot as miles spider glitching in the first one

True
Also wasnât he like coming apart while he was chasing Miles?

Wasnât that supposed to be his spidey powers? He never got bit

This, I know we all on Milesâ side but I didnât think the rationale of the spider society was that hard to follow. Intervening in other spiders stories has tangible results that at least two spider-men have verified.
Wasnât that supposed to be his spidey powers? He never got bit
I googled it the other day and he got his powers from some experiment I think, his DNA is half spider even though he wasnât bit, hence the fangs and claws
True
Also wasnât he like coming apart while he was chasing Miles?
You might be thinking of when miles f***ed up his costume?
So sweet
like his dad even got involved and I bet that was a nice moment for him as well as the kid

But couldnât a universe literally stop existing if you prevent the canon events though ??
But couldnât a universe literally stop existing if you prevent the canon events though ??
i think thereâs more too it cause if thatâs the case then earth 42 and 1610 should both be gone cause losing and gaining a spider-man shouldâve thrown the canon way off course
unless miles was meant to be spider-man the whole time

Ah. Well I thought that was their way of telling us heâs not naturally a spidey like the others.
Although if thatâs his characters cannon, it would be a nice detail to elude to something darker since heâs all about âcannonâ.
Iâm not a spider man expert all this is pretty new to me
You might be thinking of when miles f***ed up his costume?
Yeah I thought it was that whole section of his body glitching out but maybe it was just the suit
So sweet

Kids gonna do big things
