not really. its a forum where you can subscribe and partcipate in a bunch of subreddits, create and moderate your own. way more granular with a larger user base. super niche concrete stuff or just dumb cultural thing. theres no thriving rasberrypi, science, or local city section on ktt. s*** we don't even have private messaging here lol

scihoidefinitely something to be said for the types of content the hivemind upvote algorithm on reddit promotes or whatever but it's not a niche platform anymore, I think my gen x parents both use it atp
i think you can use it a variety of ways by just scrolling all/popular voyeuristically or actually subscribing to subs using ur home feed like a dashboard and therefore getting what you actually want to see and participate in. as crude of a binary that is, for the sake of example

yea I think there's a massive gulf between default subs (filled with astroturfing and ai slop - eg /r/worldnews is just israel d***riders) and niche hobby subs which are actually useful and have some sense of community
