What’s the vibes like without spoiling stuff
I’m so happy Glazer getting recognition, I’ve been raving about this mf for years and feel like he never gets mentioned with the greats. Probably because his lack of a large filmog
But after sexy beast & under the skin it sounds like he got another classic to add to his unique set of work
Vibes is like imagine there's a way better movie playing 10 paces from where the camera is set up at any given moment
I tend to agree with you but hell no, Sexy Beast is one of the most fun screenplays of the 00s, Birth was kind of a mess that lacked a clear identity, I don’t like to use the word pretentious at all but it felt that way since it didn’t know what it wanted to do concerning the themes of the film
Under The Skin is pure cinema yes
Can’t wait til Zone of Interest hits theaters near me
don't get me wrong I thought it's a fun film, I guess I am kind of the opposite on this lol, just found it entertaining but not that special or something, could see it being even funnier on rewatch tho tbf
Birth I just thought is much more atmospheric and purposefully composed and had a really unique and intense pull, def similar to under the skin in that I think. I get that it's pretty cerebral, for me the thought of someone's soul being in another body is just an interesting thought experiment - or on the flipside to think about why a kid would want to do this
The way y'all hyping Sexy Beast. Okay, definitely watching
It’s a dope gangster flick without too much happening

The fact that the premise for Birth is indeed actually interesting is what made it such a letdown for me. I didn’t vibe with the direction the film went. Focused too much on the grounded drama side of things while having unlikeable or uninteresting characters from what I can remember
I don’t think it’s unwatchable but just one of the more frustrating watches I’ve ever had, being such a fan of Glazers’ other work
Lowkey anxious for Zone of Interest
Its one of the most quoteable movies ever imo it’s just a really fun time
The screenplay is typed out like that too, the dialogue spelling with all the slang

That’s exactly how it’s typed. Dope s*** cus normally they tell you to not type in slang
that fourth wall break was just pure dread
that was the director just staring us right in the face saying THIS IS YOU

I’m leaning more positive but idk how to feel about it
i liked the boldness and the haunting nature, something feels like it’s missing from this but maybe that’s intentional
Also the volume was wayyyy too low at my theater, the “sounds” were too distant when I feel like it could’ve hit harder but maybe it’s just my theater
Also this is the type of movie people would say “it was amazing but I never want to see it again” but I legit want to see it again to get a deeper grasp

Yeeee I feel like there are some intricate details I missed out on, especially with how carefully and thoughtfully scenes were composed
I can’t stop thinking about it today, saw it last night
