every writer has duds and frankly hic and batman aren't even all that bad, it's just that fanboys can't stand when a writer does something different with a character even though comic continuity is literally the most flexible canon ever. part of the whole appeal of superhero comics imo is that different people can have different takes on a character

this man gets it. 100% agree bro. His Batman run did something pretty unique too with delving into Bruce’s trauma, which I haven’t seen done so much outside of him obviously dealing with that by becoming Batman and all that s***. The whole thing with them pump faking the batcat wedding was another editorial decision as well. If they just let Tom eat, I have no doubt that run woulda ended differently and more positively. HiC wasn’t terrible but I initially heard Tom’s pitch, and then realized that didio f***ed him yet again and changed everything. No doubt that HiC woulda been wild if they let Tom cut loose smh
