Yes because literally everything he’s ever made is layered with ironic detachment. Superman on the other hand is the most sincere comic book character ever. You need someone who believes a man can fly, not someone who believes it as long as there’s a self aware joke about how silly it is in the next moment after it happens. All of his work has some shining bits of earnest heart that make their way through, but they’re few and far between.
