I do think its hard to make a takeaway about this performance without a***yzing these international numbers. WBD may outwardly say one thing but surely someone is scratching their head over this internally.

I did some digging and every superhero live action with a great $320-400M domestic easily hit the $750-900M range overall box office with 2 outliers hitting over a billion. I've lived amongst the China film market before and seen a wide range of U.S. films there and i don't get this.

In my country atleast a lot of people didn't like the structure of the movie and the story or lack thereof.
That's the major complaint I've been seeing among those who disliked it.
Also a lot of people simply didnt even bother to watch it cause it's DC.

at least they watched it tho lol. could be a marketing issue as well turning people off before they ever gave it a chance. latter point is still a hurdle too i agree

The presale started for F4 today in China/South Korea and while it hasn’t been a full day yet, apparently it’s pretty bad. One of the Twitter accounts I always see box office obsessed people reference called the numbers “abysmal.” Maybe Superman isn’t alone.

This was the first movie I’ve watched in IMAX and it was amazing.
