he just loves too many little ideas of different iterations of different heroes. Like if he zeroed in on one iteration of a character like The Dark Knight Returns Batman and did a movie on that comic or a similar story line he would be fine. He just isn't a good writer. He's visually unmatched imo but can't create a good story to save his life.

I would welcome a Zack Snyder directed movie in the DCU if written by someone else

He does and he’s actually a crypto trader instead of working at the daily planet. Thats why he named his dog Krypto. Crazy new twist for him but I’m excited.

PLOT SPOILER:

The main “villain” is he actually rug pulls all these Superman fans on a Superman coin he launches and he has to either lie about it or be honest/accept the blame. Thats why he’s being arrested in the trailers. It’s about being kind and honest. James Gunn is a genious.
