Ay man I don't know if throwing a bunch of characters at us off the rip is the best move. That was one of justice leagues biggest issues. U can't skip the work of introducing a universe

we saw right through the former being a rushed effort to catch up to Marvel with a JL film before they inevitably dominated with their Infinity Gauntlet films (a rushed effort by WB btw I don’t pin that on Snyder personally so this isn’t a Snyder attack lol). This on the other hand is a way to make the world more lived in with metahumans

I don’t think this is going to be a rushed team up film or a cameo fest

Putting these superpower characters in this film I think will be more about establishing that the world is full of meta humans already , and Superman is just the most recent one to pop up

They probably won’t have big roles.

Okay that makes sense. Kind of like X-Men in a way

I am all for these characters existing in the world and playing a small role but announcing their casting this early isnt going to be much of what y'all or talking about otherwise it would have been a good surprise

Or they’re full blown supporting characters that essentially to Clark’s arc here

i feel like superman should be the world’s first known superhero besides maybe batman or wonder woman

I’m just not seeing the cynicism here. Like yeah I get the inclination to be cynical about these DC heroes appearing in a Superman film (cause if there’s one thing we know as superhero fans, it’s unneeded inclusions of other characters) but it would be empty to have a cynical outlook in this instance. What is really the nondiegetic, audience bait benefit to including Mr Terrific and Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner in a Superman movie?

The Occams Razor of it all is this:

    • establish the world as being lived in with metahumans
    • do a take on Superman where he’s a part of DC rather than DC being a part of him

    :ariscared:

Part of the problem is we haven't seen Clark develop by HIMSELF immediately hologram dad, ghost dad, batman, lois very little actual connecting with humanity without carrying from other hero or property. A rush to a universe . Of course you don't have to go The Batman level of isolation but Hawkgirl , Green Lantern is like come on

I am letting y'all get your piece off

Idk I really like the approach they are taking with this universe . They could’ve taken the Marvel approach and just made a bunch of origin story movies that builds up to a team up film

But instead Gunn is just going to throw us in the middle of this world and show us a superhero world that is lived in and thriving.
This approach will help it stand out from the MCU and feel more immersive imo.
And it feels more comic book-y to me

I didn’t even mention or compare Snyder in my post though lol

I’m just saying I like the approach Gunn is taking and it feels like it’ll be well thought out,

But if you wanna compare.. I think it’s a better approach than rushing to introduce characters so you can release a team up film shortly after (which is what WB previously did, that’s not specifically shots at Snyder)
