He’s about to go on tour— wouldn’t you feel more inclined to pay good money for a ticket if you knew it was his last tour

you acting like he gon stop touring when he stops dropping music. He's never played games like that to sell a product

Does anyone happen to know the terms of his recent contract? Just taking a wild guess I'm thinking he's got at least 3 more albums to drop yet lol

Been trying to say this to ppl

Drake with the braids is clearly pre-retirement era

nah he will have a Jeri curl for that

    @thegreatdivine

I don't know the terms but if I had to guess, I'd say he signed a 5-album deal that kicked off with CLB. If that's really the case then he'd be 3 albums into the deal with 2 left to go.

  • Feb 23, 2023

drake shouldn’t formally retire he should just do what feels right for himself putting those labels on things usually doesn’t end up well aside from black album

He's been talking about "exiting gracefully" since 2018 lol. That's the same exact phrase he used in the Shop interview. Why do you people think it won't happen?

This isn't some spur-of-the-moment decision he's making because he's actually exhausted and needs a break but jumps the gun and says he's retiring (which is what most rappers do and is the reason why they always end up coming back).

He's been clearly thinking about this for a long time now and he has said numerous times that he has zero plans to keep rapping into his 40s.

When he retires, it'll be earned just off the fact that he's never taken a break and has been on an unprecedented run. He's just trying to prepare y'all for when it eventually happens lol.

Because he's completely addicted to making music, he'd have to fill that hole with something else & I just can't see that happening. I can't see film/tv ever being enough with the exception of his own talk show which I think he'd excel at

If he retires before the age of 50 I'd bet a significant portion of my net worth that he'd be back within 10 years, probably 5

he was also planning to retire at 35. If having a kid isn't making him slow down then I can't see what will

I genuinely don't believe he's capable of taking a break

Pretty sure he’s stopping with rapping in a few years but we will still get R&B projects

I'm sure he'll "exit" at some point but he's not even 40 yet.

Hov is in his 50's winning grammy's. In my opinion, for Drake what rap looks like for guys as they aged has changed a ton. Hip-Hop doesn't look like it did when he was championing retiring at 35. No one looks at Cole, Dot, Kendrick, Pusha T, etc. as lame for rapping well into their 40's and 50's and I can imagine that when you're 22, 'rapping' at 45 seems wild but then you get to be in your 30's and it's still lit and you're like "oh, it's still up to be a rapper when I'm in my 30's, 40's, and 50's."

Future, Hov, Ye, Ross, a ton of rappers and musicians are credibly still making music well into their 40's and 50's which matters. I think, as long as he loves to make music (He spoke about still loving the process of making albums and being a rapper with Nicki Minaj a few months back) It won't end any time soon.

He himself has mentioned how he still loves this s***, the old man at the club syndrome is not a thing in Hip-Hop anymore, and there's too much money to be made from sticking around.

Well, none of us are Drake. I'll take his word for it. I'm only taking it seriously because this is now the second time he's speaking of exiting gracefully.

Him loving making music doesn't mean he won't be able to step away from it. Many artists who stop making music didn't do so because they all of a sudden hated making music. They just knew it was time to step away.

Look at things from his perspective: he's done everything he's set out to do and more. His legacy is established and solidified if he quits today. I think he retires once his current deal is up.

I think him stepping away from music has more to do with him dedicating his time into other interests than him being scared of falling off or aging out.
