Youtube trending don’t work the same way as Twitter. As in like the most viewed video always gets on tending and at the spot. If that was the case, PewDiePie’s video will always trend everyday. It’s manually picked by YouTube, based on views and sharing statistics, content and if the future viewer might find this video interesting, and it will all be categorized by individual countries statistics. It might not trend now, but it will in few hours.

i read ages ago that you need to get in touch with the youtube people and ask them to consider your video to be on the trending page
and if they think its big enough, they put it there. Its not an automatic thing

well its still 'trending' because if its not getting enough views or from a big enough person they wont add it
but you have to get in touch with them to start it all off basically- or pay them enough (essentially advertising)
to be fair its used worldwide so cant be easy for them to manage
