Engage with what I’m saying instead of just writing me off as a MAGA sympathizer when you know that’s far from true instead of optics that have been more pronounced while I’m also acknowledging that it’s all still bad.
And again, part of Trump’s entire brand for a lot of things is the apperance of deviating largely from the status quo or being tough on things rhetorically that liberal talking points and DNC political figures have. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t differ in many ways or he can heighten situations in a way that harms more people on the surface, but largely like his anti-war stance, his faux populism & “draining the swamp”, him wanting to attack the neoliberal state while largely continuing most of its same policies economically is part of fooling largely his own base into buying into his brand that’s its largely different from the establishment status quo policy wise (not talking about branding/optics) as that’s obviously different and apart of electoral politics in general

It’s far far worse now man, you are downplaying it full stop.

If it was as bad as now you would see the same outrage bruh idc I agree that Obama and Biden were still doing deportations but not at this scale

Not a dnc supporter bud
jesus

people were protesting ICE during the Biden administration, you just didn't care. more broadly, american liberals don't care about anything until they're told to because they have no principles and believe in nothing.

Outrage doesn’t always correlate with scale or severity, especially when the media landscape, public focus, or political climate shifts. Under Obama, or even Bush deportations were happening at a higher statistical rate, but they were done with less inflammatory rhetoric and more sanitized optics, which lulled people into complacency. And with Bush, the focus was largely on situations like the War on Terror or later the recession.
The outrage now isn’t just about numbersit’s about style and viability. Trump admin has made state violence more visible and grotesque, so people felt it more, even though the system doing the violence was already in place. Biden and Obama kept it quieter, but the harm was still very real ask the families who were deported, separated, or placed in detention under “humane” Democrats.
So if your metric is “outrage,” you’re measuring media and public perception, not policy.
This isn’t even getting into a number of other issues surrounding the Trump admin in conjunction with everything with ICE that are pushing people to come out more for this.
If they make it all the way to the CWS
Arkansas and LSU play in 3 hours so they’re gonna meet up with a bunch of drunk rednecks that already hate each other.

The economy is a lot worse than it was during the Obama years, people are feeling the inevitable result of decades of declining living conditions and the austerity of post-pandemic, a scapegoat is needed, especially for the conservative base; that something is responsible for their ills. Not the corporations hiring low wage labor in the first place or the results of US free trade agreements destabilizing local economies and workers in the first place.
So the rhetoric and focus is now on getting rid of the immigrants, it’s an easy scapegoat. Again, no one is denying Trump certainly portrays immigrants in a more grotesque manner, just that this entire system didn’t just pop up overnight over magically “get worse”. The more republicans can show pictures of people in cages and ICE “doing stuff” more than the Democrats, the more their own base can feel like things are “getting better” and the reasons behind them losing their jobs or inflation is getting solved.
I mean, even by the time Kamala was running her platform basically adopted a quasi “we need strong borders, people need to come here legally” stance compared to democrats rhetoric a decade ago, showing the general need to find a scapegoat for the failures of neoliberal economic policy even though illegal immigration’s has been declining and most immigration is done through legal means in the first place
I’m not trying to derail from op any further tho. Anyone going out to these protests stay safe.
