Counter argument - it’s against JD Vance

JD Vance isn’t even that popular anymore within his own party, if he is ran a democrat will probably win anyways. And I think regardless after this s***show a democrat will still win regardless

I just don’t see the point in not running a democrat that every voting American in their party will get behind. It seems way too risky at this point, running someone like AOC, Gavin, or Kamala who have had millions of dollars in smear campaigns ran against them over the last 10 years doesn’t seem worth it.

You need a candidate created in a lab with the perfect traits to beat this!!

Problem is, I just don't see how Carlson doesn't rip him apart on a debate stage

We NEED whatever scenario gets him in as the repub candidate and him being in front of a mic lowers that dramatically

Any talk of electability during the mid terms is DOA for me, not even hearing it. Whoever the Dems run will win.

    F*** running Kamala again tho

I think Carlson drills anyone other than Newsom (unfortunately the most likely face outside of Kamala, and I think he fries her in a debate).

Anyone other than Tucker tho, I think Repubs get singed. Rubio is a loser, obviously Vance is a nothing, everybody else they got to line up is a meme. It's really Carlson or bust for that party imo.

Tucker Carlson ? Vance is a product of his and Thiel’s making. Carlson will never go against him. Hasn’t even criticized him for Iran war

Unless there's financial incentive to be loyal, I just never trust a right winger to abide by such a principle

Now ofc, Thiel or whoever could line Tucker's pockets and ask him to throw his weight behind dude. That's certainly possible. I just feel like this guy has been angling for real power for a few years now

Carlson has pretty clearly distanced himself from Trump and his administration. Not sure if he's angling for a presidential run or not, but he's definitely building his own platform that could be sold to voters as a continuation of the MAGA movement/delivering on the promises Trump made but didn't keep (better on immigration, actual government spending cuts, ending the war with Iran, etc.) while also being distinctly different from Trump

Him making a serious run at it is definitely a nightmare scenario for Dems. I'm sure they are crossing their fingers that it's Vance or Rubio

I disagree. Trump 2 was one of the worst candidates in US history and won in a landslide because the Democrats ran a s***ty candidate.

He was very vocal about not having a plan for healthcare, wanting to gut social services, wanting to impose tariffs on the entire world, and using this presidential term primarily to attack all of his opponents in politics and the media. And then he won the popular vote and the electoral college.

Who the Democrats run matters. Democratic voters are much more likely to sit out elections because of bad candidates than Republicans, who would go out in droves to vote for Jake Paul if he had an R next to his name.

If Democrats do what they did in 2024 and run a bad candidate because they think they have another layup, they're going to get burned just as badly no matter who the Republicans run.

Republican voters straight up do not care who the Republican candidate is. They will vote for whomever they are told.

If Democrats don't like their candidate, they will not only sit out the election, they will also tell the people in their lives not to vote for that candidate and will dedicate their time to going on social media and trying to convince others not to vote for them as well.

Those are the voters the Democratic party needs to be focused on bringing in. Not moderates, not anti-Trump Republicans, and not independents, all of whom will likely just vote Republican anyway (as evidenced by Kamala's campaign.)

  • carlson no less slimy than newsom or vance, jus in the other direction lol. he can say alla right things (i.e., cherry picking how much critique he sends the trump admins way even tho he helped create the problem) im still not trustin dude for a second. but yea definitely a more competent, savvy and scarily articulate potential candidate who can at least tell where the wind is blowing

Carlson personally fought for Vance to be the VP. He’s distanced himself from Trump but not Vance. Vance is his puppet. I agree with everything your saying but not that Carlson will run.

The most likely scenario IMO is that Carlson will take the anti-Israel, populist audience he’s cultivated on the right and redirect them to voting for Vance in 2028. He’ll rehabilitate and sanewash Vance as if he wasn’t involved in the Iran War and being in lockstep with Israel. He’s been very careful to this day not to criticize Vance.

what makes you think democrats want to win over voters?

  • Democrats will campaign with the ghost of Reagan and Bush before trying to court disenfranchised voters.

I don't think they want to, but if somehow, by way of divine intervention and/or a miracle they change their minds, that's the way to do it

house is the democrats' to lose, honestly. the out-of-power party gains in basically every modern midterm and the polling environment favors them heavily right now, so the house flips. senate is a different animal though — the map is rough for dems with a bunch of their seats up in tough states, so republicans probably hold or even pad their margin there. house blue, senate red, and then everyone in this thread gets to keep arguing about carlson vs vance for two more years.

I’m beginning to be more and more on the ā€œAOC is running for Senate instead of Presidentā€ train

As I’ve said many times, she’s just way too polarizing of a figure for a national presidential general election electorate. And she’s done some things within the last year to counteract that, but not enough.

The real question is, who will take the huge progressive lane if she doesn’t? I like Khanna, but I don’t think he has the juice/charisma. I’ve even heard people say Bernie because there’s no obvious people outside of AOC — I just think there’s no way given his age tho.

There will be no progressive lane beyond what Newsome, Buttigieg and whoever else co-opt

i hope khanna runs tbh, he seems like he has a level-headedness than can appeal to average american voters (i hate putting faith in those people but they outnumber us by a big margin) that wouldn't otherwise support progressive policies. he might even have some appeal to certain crowds on the right because of his work w/ releasing the epstein files.

If the libtard we elect in 2028 can manage to put every MAGA thru kangaroo court and get enough milquetoast s*** out of his ass then We’re not getting a progressive until 36 at best
