Darializa worked on Zohran's campaign and was instrumental in getting him elected. I think he shares more of her beliefs than he is letting on. Which is why he pushed for her soo hard.

Yes, she has some questionable tweets from 6 years ago when she was 25/26. But, everyone who is active online probably has some crazy takes and she's 32 now. There's some things I believed in two/three years ago that I don't anymore.

Overall, people are freaking about about her for no reason. She is going to be a great congresswoman for her district and is probably the most left person we have had in office maybe ever.. Certainly since the 1910's-20's.

I mean that interview that @vela posted is from a few days ago and the weird cringe Tik tok that @nevalost posted is from her actual campaign

It’s just abysmal messaging. That’s not how you sell progressive ideas. It’s how you make them polarizing.

The Tik Tok was absolute cringe, but she won anyways against someone who's been in politics for like 30 years.. Her messaging worked even though I don't agree with everything she says.

Also, she is a socialist.. And I mean a REAL socialist. It's obvious that she wants to help set the stage for communism sometime in the distant future. From what I've read, they believe once communism is achieved there won't be a real need for prisons. They believe in rehabilitation above everything else.

Personally I can't see a world without them, but we do need prison reform and to abolish the private prison system altogether. We have the largest number of prisoners overall of any country and it just shouldn't be that way.

She also holds the belief that undocumented migrants shouldn't be deported for crimes. I disagree with that view. I think if they did the crime here they should go through the courts, serve their time here and not be deported afterwards unless it was a violent crime.

Reading that it seems like her crazy ideas are more of a end result scenario if we every reach an idealized/utopia society.

Like what was the reasoning for someone murdering someone. Was it for money or is the person mentally ill? In her utopia if you address those issues, help the poor and mentally ill early on, those murders don't happen in the first place (ideally). Obviously in reality some people are just plain evil and there's nothing you can do about it, but I guess for her what we would consider someone as just being born evil, she'll just say something like "our current society is what fosters a child to become that way" or something.

On deportation I see what she is trying to say too. If someone is here illegally, but spent all or most of their lives here, they are just as much of a stranger in the country they were born in just as we perceive them to be here. If they serve their time in prison here they already did the time for the crime. Now the issue I have with this are repeat offenders or those that likely to repeat crimes. But my stance on immigrant crime has always been that there are people that are born here that commit them. That's a bigger issue that we never attempt to solve but instead focus on immigrants. People forget that Eric Adams became mayor because he was a cop and crime was a major concern at the time in NYC. Migrant crisis happened after that so the concern of crime was way before that, yet people think deportations will solve the issue.

I don't necessarily think she's crazy. She seems to know it won't work in the current system, well the prison part. Deportation/no borders seems like she'd want it to happen immediately, but that too won't work under the currently system and requires that other countries adopt that too which we have no control over

She won in one of the most left wing districts in the nation. That stuff won’t fly in almost every other part of America. If people start equating Mamdani with her, it’s going to be a net negative for how people view him across the country.

And I think Mamdani has real potential to have staying power and influence across the country for years to come if he plays things right.

As long as she ends up delivering for her constituents Mamdani will be fine. That's really all that matters. People said AOC would be a disaster and were freaking out about her when she beat a 10-term incumbent. Now she could keep her seat for life if she wanted.

There has been an extremely stark shift in AOCs messaging strategy since she realized she had aspirations to compete nationally tho

There’s a strong case to be made that she’s part of the reason for a decline in the national appeal of the Dem party’s brand in recent years too in the late 2010s/early 2020s, since she was one of the biggest faces of the Dem party during that time and her whole messaging strategy during that time was trying to appeal to Woke Twitter

I simply reject the idea that AOC contributed to the decline in the Democratic Party's popularity. It's fallen because they've been ineffective at governing and aren't pushing bold ideas to change people's material conditions.

They are also bought out by corporations and big donors so they don't even fight for policies that are popular within their own base. They just haven't given people something meaningful to vote for.

But, anyways, back to the topic at hand. Melat Kiros is running for congress in Denver and her primary is this Tuesday. I really hope she wins.

I've seen a lot of polls on this with some of them being as close as 2% with Democrats on top. But, if it's anywhere close to this poll 2026 and likely 2028 will be bloodbaths

AOC breaks down what I am talking about when it comes to Darializa. I really think people are freaking out for no reason. Let's see how she governs. She has two years.. If she is a disaster she will be voted out. If she delivers there's going to be a different conversation in 2028.
