Same with Kendrick winning AOTY. The only way a rap album is going to win AOTY is if its a critical and largely commercial success. That's how Speakerboxxx/Love Below got it, critics loved it and the album had at least 4 songs charting high in different categories of music.

GNX was one of the most acclaimed and commercially successful albums of last year. Hell, it’s songs probably penetrated pop culture more than any album released last year, I was hearing tracks from it everywhere.
