The film definitely had potential. It was just not written well at all and had no cohesiveness. The story and concept was there but the overall glue to fit everything together and Abel’s acting messed it up. I do enjoy the film for what it is but I get why it got panned. It’s cool he had the vision and was able to get a worldwide theatrical release for it but I few like it would have been received better if it was just a streaming release or something.

Weeknd got a great eye for visual ideas and a great creative mind when it comes to concepts but he’s very wooden when it comes to the acting and the writing comes off as very one dimensional because all the dimension is what you see in each frame. You strip away the artsy aesthetics and just boil it down to the acting and that’s what kills the movie.
