Good second half effort from Cal Baptist. Fun game
will do a lot for their program? that one nigga who about to graduate was the only one scoring?
Kansas is getting touched innapriopriately by St Johns tho definitely
St John's is prone to those dry spells too
They had a game this season where they made a total of two shots in the 2nd half

When Kansas loses and Flory transfers to Duke
31 and 27 is f***ing crazy
Pretty much the lamest first round in the history of the tournament
Only four double digit seeds in the round of 32 (fewest since 2007) and one of them is a 10. For the first time ever, 13s, 14s, 15s, and 16s have gone back-to-back years without winning a single game.
12 High Point beating 5 Wisconsin was the only traditional upset this year (lower seeded mid-major beats higher seeded power conference team) and was also the only upset by an underdog of more than 2.5 points
Three of the first round "upsets" this year were as follows:
11 VCU beats 6 UNC without their best player
11 Texas (SEC) beats 6 BYU
10 Texas A&M (SEC) beats 7 St. Mary's (WCC)
Also featured the only day in tournament history where favorites went 16-0 straight up.
Hate to say it but I think the first round of the NCAA Tournament is officially dead. The big wigs got what they wanted

Yes seeing this all made me sad
Transfer portal killed it
I still believe 2 year contracts with a ton of guardrails and opt outs to accommodate for things will clean this sport up a bit and give mid majors more of a chance
@op many many many are saying Kansas SJU has game of the tourney potential

Should be an awesome game

Used to be home-grown mid major guys vs. home-grown p4 guys + their few NBA prospects. Now the P4 teams still have their home-grown guys and NBA prospects but they have the mid majors' home grown guys as well
Makes me sick to see all of the guys that transfer to P4 schools for a bag just to ride pine. I was just looking yesterday at what Noah Williamson, the 2024-25 Patriot League player of the year who averaged 18 & 8 for Bucknell, is doing this year at Alabama. 1 point and 1 rebound in 8 minutes per game. It's so sad
Kyan Evans. 11 PPG at Colorado State last year. Hit 6 threes in their first round win over Memphis
Transferred to UNC and averaged 4 PPG this year. Played 3 minutes in their first round loss.
Those types of transfers make the game so much worse. Legitimately talented players that would be starting and playing 30 minutes a game on mid-majors are rotting on P4 benches. I'm happy for them because they're getting paid but it has degraded the product by quite a bit

Ya.
And it sucks cause there was some expectation that there would be a correction: you see guys just like you not playing, so the trends bucks back to staying put. But money is money, and soooo yea still have yet to see that

I can't blame guys who will likely never play in the NBA for wanting to start their adult lives with a few hundred thousand to a few million bucks. I would make that same decision
It just stinks for the game
