The question is with whom do you replace them? They're generally good for a solid non-conference win or two with good predictive metrics. That's a lot more than basically all of the bubble teams this year can boast

sadly i probably lean toward the dogshit power conf teams like unc and indiana. but for the sake of march and what it all means, better to keep the solid representation the MWC gets

I think it's counter to the spirit of March and the sport as a whole to allow massive P5 brands like Indiana, UNC, and Texas to piss down their leg all year and then reward them with bids because "well, at least you're not from the Mountain West"

My hope is that they've just had tremendously bad luck as a conference and can reverse course moving forward. I know we all love and appreciate the blue bloods, but a large part of the appeal of this collegiate sport is that it's not football where you can expect the same four teams to dominate every year

Michigan plays fast, turns the ball over a ton, and plays awful transition defense, three things UC San Diego is great at exploiting. UCSD also pulls a ton of 3s (8th in the country) and shoots it at a 37% clip, so they can negate the size advantage by spamming 3s and denying entry passes to the 7 footers

I think San Diego is a sweet 16 caliber team that got an incredibly favorable first round matchup. Michigan is very good in their own right but this matchup is a total nightmare for them
