Under the proposal, expansion of the 68-team field included both four- and eight-team models. The NCAA would keep its 64-team bracket but would add play-in games involving the Nos. 10 through 12 seeds."
As long as they don't go up to 96 teams or whatever they were talking about.
The tournament is big enough.

ESPN rankings have been awful for years. You'd be better off finding a Twitter source you trust and just keeping up with their rankings/scouting reports
247 is better than ESPN though just between the two

Not a fan at all unless the play-in games are only between at larges
I don't think an automatic qualifier should ever have to play a play-in game
