12 team playoff is happening within the next few years, if anything it opens up a spot or two for teams from weaker conferences. Each P5 winner will essentially be guaranteed a playoff spot with fringe 1 or 2 loss teams also being in the mix - if a team like Texas or Oklahoma joins the SEC and loses a conference game or two while not even making the championship game, their chances of making it go down drastically
Yes their route to the title will be harder but if the sec provides the best incentives and the best chances to win why would anybody go to the big 12 or acc?

The point is that the SEC doesn't provide the best chance to win, it just provides the best TV contracts and other monetary bonuses for the programs
Texas and Oklahoma are not making their paths to a national championship any easier with this move

Also yes Alabama is very dominant in the regular season but let's not act like they haven't been beaten on multiple occasions in the playoffs. Clemson and Ohio State are just as big of threats in playoffs as Alabama
