I'm thinking that it might be smart to never go all-in, just to lock up your key players long term (obviously you'll need a superstar and a co-star) but to never gut your bench and always prioritize depth, and wait to see if lightning strikes rather than force it by making expensive signings/trades and jeopardizing your future

If you are a Finals caliber team every year, eventually you'll face injured teams or you'll just catch fire and beat a superteam, and you'll still have a good roster with depth and picks to retool if your superstar leaves or you have bad injury luck
