right? everything about the Dan the Man persona is over the top

there is no way anyone can overflow with such immense mediocrity in every single facet of their life

the complete lack of self awareness. the imposing arrogance fueled by the completion of the bare minimum adult level tasks. the pleasure of working at a furniture store (lazy boy for gods sake). the color by numbers stereotype of being a old white ass american male married to a chinese girl who can't cook at all. his favorite artists all being god awful.

that's what actually gave it away that is was all a character-- that when he tries to throw people off by saying he's a fan of a decent artist or band, he always, without fail, says his favorite album is always their widely understood and agreed upon worst album. i was like, okay this s*** wouldn't even work for a sketch comedy.
