2/3 movies in the GTFO tier are women-centric...let's discuss
Captain Marvel was especially s*** when it came to the action/fight choreography.... Directors literally didn't know how to film action scenes.... I'm not sure I've seen a worse MCU film when it came to how the action was captured and choreographed.... This is particularly clear on rewatch that I could literally give a walkthrough how bad it was smfh... It was also boring in most aspects and anticlimactic af... The twist is decent, but that's not enough to really save this film.
Black Widow actually had some good action in parts and some solid performances, but the 3rd act was pretty weak and the nonsense they did with Taskmaster was terrible.... The movie was less about Black Widow than it was her sister... Low-key it was her sister's film and it was just done to facilitate a set up for a Disney+ series... All in all it was lackluster and largely pointless narratively, but I could find more enjoyment in it than CM.
Wonder Woman 2017 last good female superhero film.

watching paddy fight makes me happy for @val
In fact... Wonder Woman 2017 and Birds of Prey are easily better than Captain Marvel and Black Widow.
WW84 beneath them all as supreme dogshit tho.

Sounds like the James harden of fast food
Thoroughly enjoyed Shang Chi... Action choreography finally was on point in an MCU film consistently for the first time since Winter Soldier and although the 3rd act was a bit of a CGI fest... Narratively the action made sense and the climactic moments were largely impactful and paid off... Loved the performances all around, but especially from Tony Leung as the real Mandarin.... Every time he was on screen or spoke he brought a certain gravitas to his scenes and you just wanted to see more and more of his story.
Simi Liu as Shang Chi was extremely likeable and has a genuine appeal to his performance.. he never felt off in the midst of the action or any of the more dramatic moments.
Awkwafina had her moments of humor and they mostly hit... There's a surprise character that I wasn't so big on being in the film to such a degree yet it mostly worked... The MCU humor was still present, but they did a good job of not interjecting it in serious moments that needed to be felt like they've poorly done in the past.
Gotta peep again, but this one going up in the ranks for me.
Shang chi better than 90% of the highest tier. Only winter soldier and infinity war can compete
