the correction has been waiting to happen for quite a while, and the market has been overvalued for quite some time due to the trade war. we're in a propped up bull run.

could the coronavirus be a catalyst for a recession? sure. will it actually cause a recession? it's too early to really determine.

Exactly. Could the beer virus be the thing that finally pops the balloon and begins to knock down the house of cards that the fed has built? Yup.

I’m of the belief that corona isn’t even a big deal though so I don’t see it happening but the coming months will be interesting

what does this s*** mean in laymens terms

pandemic bonds are created to help low-income countries respond to any outbreaks of Corona.

investors get a solid return due to the high risk, but the catch is if there is a pandemic, the principal is given to those low-income countries.

one problem with these types of bonds is that they're not stable if you don't have knowledge of the threat at hand. so for the investor, it requires a lot of work to determine whether or not to pay up.

the second problem is that pandemic bonds don't have one of biggest benefits of actually having catastrophe-relared securities-- having a return unrelated to how major capital markets are doing. because of this, as soon as a pandemic begins, the security is suddenly useless, because the return is triggered as soon as equity in a market begin to fall. meaning your return is worthless.

tl:dr pandemic bonds are terrible ways to finance the fight against coronavirus because there's no reason to actually invest in them

there is now a scandal brewing that the WHO recognizes this, and decided to protect the investors-- by not paying out the principal and giving the return to the investors

hard to really say. it could mean absolutely nothing and all that happens is that investors get a fat chunk of change at the end of the day.

if the World Bank keeps issuing bonds without the WHO declaring pandemics, it could spell increased financial panic due to the lack of resources being given to combat the virus. and it'll just add to the decreasing confidence in the market.

edit: pandemic bonds by themselves aren't hostile to the market, they're just kinda useless. the only thing that could cause dissent is if the "scandal" is proven and hits MSM

If you seriously think a stock market crash (if one happens) Won’t effect the public’s perception on their president you are delusional lmao

you think people are so braindead that they wont know the only reason the market is going down is cus of the virus? and after that situation is resolved we going alllllllll the way back up

think of how many people buying dips rn

GP already knows the market been booming the entire time trump been in office. the only people who will blame trump for the down trend now are thirsty liberals just saying anything

So just in simple terms, Trump is good no matter the reason to them? They really think he made the economy what is was today even though it's been a continuous trend?

Bondholders other investments are likely linked too since this seemed like a safe bet. so if they don’t get their payout by the expected July date, losses could go far beyond their principal. one incentive for who delaying a pandemic statement could be bondholders figuring out how to pass on their expected debt.

losses in worst case scenario won’t be catastrophic but if it’s forcing who not act on virus, itll spread and lead to other instability.

Bloomberg seems like the only other person that will be viable in CA imo

but yeah Pete and Warren have a distant chance, seems unlikely

and maybe Biden if SC is a huge win

but I 100% agree if she was a true Progressive ally she'd get out the race

    Democrats & The Left:

this bloomberg guy is such a republican centrist grifter. literally just a republican masquerading as a democrat. he should just take off the mask and run as a republican already.

some f***ery afoot with the green party primaries

it seems like Dario Hunter won the first two primaries in GA and MN to the surprise of the more right-wing establishment folks in the party who backed howie hawkins and now theyre trying to basically act like neither of them happened and the national party isnt acknowledging either primary victory.

gonna wait to cast any judgments but if they rig this s*** in favor of hawkins....

Yall seen tht new wisconsin poll?

Only dem ahead trumpl midwest is bernies to take

When i lived in WI bernie was the only candidate republican leaning racist whites out in the burbs and minorities would f*** with in 2016

During HS when i was f***ing w this white girl i went to her house and seen bernie signs all over 💀 this was 2018

    He’s loved out there

Same with the Pennsylvania General Election polls today as well.

Bernie really needs to do a better job of touting and focusing on his electability. People seem to be using that as a negative, but his numbers are generally the best of the whole field everywhere against Trump.

Exactly but ive started noticing the corporate punditry shifting

Yall noticed this down ballot talking point that all of a sudden sprung out of nowhere after nevada win?

It isn’t a coincidence they all started parroting tht BS all at once. It’s their new zombie argument bcus they know the bernie loses to trump one is categorically false by the only metrics we could possibly use to project
