I really can’t imagine them actually pursuing any charges

I heavily disagree. Besides the obvious, you've got NY which has basically guaranteed they're gonna file the fraud lawsuit the second he's no longer protected from indictment.

I really dont get the perspective that they're not at least going to pursue charges. There are a number of active investigations going on as we speak.

Cohen is literally in prison and has directly implicated Trump in a number of crimes.

It's such a huge opportunity for the next DoJ to make their mark.

And yeah NY has literally a stack of charges and their AG has on a number of occasions said they plan to file them the moment he's out.

Not to mention that his health is through the toilet.

trump is gonna win again, white america is scared to death right now and will vote him in again.

the youth are too busy with BLM and posting black boxes to even bother to register to vote.

they call themselves the silent majority for a reason.

His base isn’t silent or a majority. You cant lose the popular vote by 3+ million and win by 77k in 3 states and call yourself a majority.

Yeah but when it comes down to it they won’t really arrest and charge a former president with a crime. If they did, then politics will only get more divisive going forward. Republicans would almost certainly open investigation after investigation into Biden, probably for leverage so he’ll pardon Trump

There's really no precedent here to go off to say what can or can't be done. Much of this is uncharted territory. All we know is there are a number of crimes associated with this administration. And we know there are past and current investigations on the books, that's resources and manpower poured into long, gruelling processes.

Political divisiveness really has no bearing on this. I don't see that as something that's entering into anyone's mind. Politics is divisive and always will be. What aids in closing that gap and simply separating right from wrong is taking the opportunity to weed out corruption and indict known criminals.

On your last point, you can't just say well they'll open investigations as retaliation. That doesn't mean anything. There has to be something to investigate, and significant threat to make the idea of 'leverage' even feasible.

Very importantly, pardons don't apply to state charges.

When Trump claimed Hillary would be in jail, the media was saying that was a dictator move of him to put his political opponent in prison. If Trump goes to prison after leaving office, his supporters will almost certainly feel the same way. It would basically cause massive civil unrest. And Republican Congress/senate would investigate the Ukraine Biden scandal (even if there is nothing there) just to keep railing at it to hurt his approval ratings and reelection chances (though he’s likely a one term candidate anyways).

That’s not to say it shouldn’t happen, justice should be served if a crime was committed. Just that it’s all politics and I feel like they wouldn’t go through with it.

    Im making fun of you.

Why would I be upset that prominent leftist are advocating people vote for Biden?

Also, who cares what Zizek said in the past. He changed his mind to my point of view. Am I supposed to be upset that Zizek picked a less stupid contrarian viewpoint after seeing the damage that Trump could be doing? Zizek obviously no longer feels that Hillary was worse than Trump. And the point is comparative, I know for a fact that you are stupider than Zizek. And you know you are indeed stupider than Zizek. Why should anyone listen to you when you spout /r/ExplainLikeIam5 versions of Chomsky and Zizek's arguments😭

Appeal to authority? More like appeal to lefties not being f***ing stupid and letting Trump get another term in office. 😭😭😭

Go ahead and vote green or whatever. No one cares, but youre going to get laughed at along the way.

Also I like how you call Biden a predator now that all accusations against him have been debunked as coming from incredulous actors. Fat f***ing L Synopsis

If Biden is a "senile racist predator", then I dont care. All my niggas voting a racist senile predator. And I guess all your niggas too cuz I know youre gonna be spamming manufacturing consent memes long after this election ends 😭😭😭😭

Im finna be happy to see Bernie, AOC, Illhan, and Chomsky posted up in the booth voting for the "senile racist predator" candidate

I might get to shed a tear that Im not virtue signaling outside like the mighty Synopsis but at least I got Chomsky, Zizek, and everyone else to keep me warm.

You can stay in that beautiful lane of "I have never done anything meaningful with my political science degree but I post on KTT and pretend my opinions have precedence over Chomsky and Zizek" lmaooooo

Watching lefties fall over themselves to virtue signal about moral righteousness is hilarious.

Ill enjoy the comfort of a unified base and academia reaffirming my confirmation bias that voting Biden was the best course of action. Thank you based Bernie, Chomsky, Zizek, Jayapal, Illhan, AOC, Mehdi Hasan etc 🙏

Tl;dr: mad about what? You 😭? I cant even take you seriously enough to block you. The way I see it, I'm winning and reality keeps affirming my choices when Biden's tent just keeps expanding. Why should I care about the opinions of the Synopsis in the world who haven't done anything as opposed to the politicians, philosophers, or the cunnilinguist major that is Chomsky lmao.

Im not arguing with any unified left leaning base. Im arguing with the scattered morons who bring up books they havent read and have constant schizophrenic delusions of paranoia about all sources except the ones that agree with them. And I wouldnt have it any other way 😭

And considering Biden's Reade accusation was debunked on Thursday, I couldn't be happier. Especially considering his ever increasing poll results. Please tell me why I should be upset about voting who you call a "senile racist predator" 😭😭😭😭

really I'd love to laugh at your next post bro. Please tell me about your moral concerns. I deadass love a story fam. Please keep up the good fight bro! Without someone to claim moral superiority, what good are we?

That’s not to say it shouldn’t happen, justice should be served if a crime was committed. Just that it’s all politics and I feel like they wouldn’t go through with it.

The investigations into Hilary were of a totally different magnitude. The FBI concluded with recommending no charges. She did not commit any crime beyond negligence. There was no intent to harm US interests. And the files that were deemed 'classified' were done so after the fact.

To even attempt charges would have been foolish and the administration is well aware of this. There's more value in leaving it floating in the ether.

So I mean in that regard yes it would have been a dictator move. You don't need the media to tell you that. And it would 100% not have been effective.

Once again, the difference is here there is actual mountains of irrefutable evidence of criminal actions.

Onto your next point, no it would not basically cause massive civil unrest. Its a base of 40%, half of whom are old white crackers in s***-hole states.

You can't just blanket state there's going to be massive civil unrest. And the first indicator of any potential of that will be following the results of the election.

Republican Congress/Senate doesn't add up either. The Congress aint getting flipped (very slim chance). Senate is up in the air. And investigations do not work that way, just opened with such ease, lacking substance or majority support.

Approval ratings and reelection chances are a whole different tangent from the point we were discussing.

If Trump loses this year the RNC will want nothing more than to wipe their hands with him, just as they wanted to in 2016. His 'base' wont mean f*** all in the grand scheme of things.

It doesn’t matter if you trust polls or not because he literally doesn’t have a majority. Unless you think Trump has gotten even more popular since 2016?

What Joe Biden’s Event Was Like
    nytimes.com/2020/06/17/us/politics/joe-biden-campaign-event.html

Then, Mr. Biden appeared. He arrived with such little fanfare that I didn’t even notice him enter the room. There was no introduction by an organizer to pump up a crowd that wasn’t there, as is typical with campaign events.

It’s a damn shame that the democrats couldn’t come up with anyone better than Joe f***ing Biden. I still think Biden, or whomever else they install, is going to lose

Again, I’m not arguing that he shouldn’t be charged if he did commit the crime, I’m arguing that people in power are unfortunately above the law and arresting him, while not political in itself, will ultimately become political.

That's fair enough. Political aspect is unavoidable of course. In terms of the ultimate effect that will have, we'll see. No real precedent here, will be interesting no doubt.

I think the impact would be civil unrest because Trump has a cult. The cult would absolutely believe that the deep state was trying to lock him up. Trump supporters took up arms and occupied government buildings during a pandemic to protest quarantine, I can imagine that they could get pretty wild if they thought that their savior was being wrongfully imprisoned by the deep state

What that translates to, beyond just being weirdos and a nuisance, is anyone's guess. Especially when military might is not on their side, and nor can they claim a president anymore to protect their actions.

i'm beginning to think more and more each day that biden is going to win, because people are seeing accelerationism under trump they're increasingly uncomfortable with. 2-3 months ago, I think trump would have clean wiped like every state, but not right now. republicans are losing faith in trump's ability to do literally anything - lot of prominent conservatives straight up wanted him to gun down protestors and instate martial law, and him not really doing anything but posting on twitter has caused a large chunk of his hard-right base to lose faith him. you have the trump cultists who are going to vote no matter what, but an increasing amount of right wing voters are increasingly disaffected. they wanted him to pull out from WHO and to s*** on europe. they wanted him to sanction and blockade china. they wanted him to trust-bust big tech. they wanted him to Nixon the protestors. he's only done this stuff in tweets alone, and right wingers are taking notice of it. Boomers are increasingly anti-trump because they see an uptick in chaos which they see as his fault ,and they just want to return to their 2013 neoliberal everyday americanisms. all biden has to do is re-enact 2016 and then win PA & FL. right now that seems incredibly likely.
