A $45 million cap hit is insane for any player, but nobody over 30 is getting that contract unless it's LeBron
His MVP season was 4 years ago.
Steph & KD are basically on the same deal. Kawhi will be 30 this summer and will get something similar. If Westbrook was really an impact player who elevates his team like you say he does people would pay that for him. He's just not and realistically never was.

He's good at what his role has been his whole career, which is a high motor and high IQ role player, distributor, and defender. He's not a superstar, he's never been asked to carry a team, and he's been the best player in a playoff series one time in his whole career, last year in the first round against Brooklyn
Kyle Lowry is basically a very rich man's version of Derek Fisher, and there's nothing wrong with that but let's please stop comparing him to actual superstars when he's not even on the same planet

Exactly. Half court offense needs a pure point guard. Plus this will allow Simmons to get in the post more which is where he thrives offensively.
