as a collective entity, the capitalist class have separate interests from the working class masses.

an employer wants to maximize their profits; a worker wants to maximize their wages.

if you answered "no" to the first, why? isn't the whole point of operating a business to turn a profit? don't companies need to keep up with their competition so they don't get washed? paying your employees more means less profits for the capitalist. theres a reason Amazon isn't going to start paying employees $30 an hour unless they're forced to; it would hurt their profits. they would lose out to competition.

likewise, why would a worker not wish to receive a better wage and a higher quality of life if given the opportunity?

how can such a relationship between these two groups be reconciled? its an inherently antagonistic one. ones gain is the others loss.

so, they compete with each other, as you'd expect them to. the working class in America is less coherent and organized than the capitalist class for obvious reasons (american government bad). the capitalist class pursuing their interests makes sense and isn't something otherworldly to wrap ones head around.
