If youre in a year making 10grand or less taxes don't matter (it's a safety net threshold for SSI and welfare people), but anything above it does
From my talks
If you're making like 10grand to 30grand you are under the radar but can still get pulled up
40grand to 60grand you are on the average radar
70grand+ you will get pulled up
And if you get pulled in any threshold that's not 10grand n below, they will check every other year too
So it's better to just do it correctly for that day you hit a different tax bracket that makes it hotter for yourself, or get the random check up in the lower brackets
Tax avoidance may seem worth it in the moment but it never seems worth it when you finally get pulled up
