I was a black child we were listening to Drake. I was listening to Yeezus by myself but nothing about that album sonically or topically appealed to our every day life or s*** that was going on. I honestly mostly just knew niggas who hated it, I personally fw that album though but its kinda where Ye started coming off disconnected for me from the s*** I go to him for, dope music but it wasnt the same type of listening experience
On the other hand Drake was just on fire and everybody around me was listening to him and I genuinely loved his album too so the memories + genuine enjoyment, he stamped 2013 for me

We were in our 20s and was a crazy time and a lot of Yeezus appealed to our lives. I love a lot of his music but could never relate as much to Drake always complaining about women, his friends and the industry and much as Kanyes humor and bravado. Had listening parties for both albums that year and after the sheer energy of Yeezus we expecting Drake to level up to that degree, half the time everybody was
I get that he was going for more of a fine wine type thing but it lacked the energy and dynamics that we all wanted.
