but i think how kendrick has managed to give so many high quality yet different albums in his career, while being very prevalent to the genre and his run is special

Every album that he’s released is noteworthy to some extent. He’s one of the few artists in hip hop where he doesn’t have a single album you can point to and say “Eh, it’s just another Kendrick album”.

He’s pretty much replaced Kanye as the premier “event” rapper.

Can’t say I really have a top 5. Not a drake fan. Mostly listen to 90’s artists Nas, Big, Jay, Guru/Gangstarr, GFK, DMX, Mobb Deep probably some of my most listened to over the years

Tbh outside of their second and third albums (most people think infamous is the debut) that’s an understandable take. I did really like the one from last year though. Prodigy wasn’t the same artist post 90’s although he pulled it back with his alchemist albums imo
