But back to @op vehemently disagree on the jazz thing. It actually is a big thing happening about that but on the other side of the spectrum.

You have a lot of young folks (mostly cacs) that get into jazz that legit only do it to just show off their chops and nothing else (e.g. domi and jd beck, jacob collier, etc). It's damn near an epidemic where you'll see someone going viral on instagram just for playing some fast licks on a drum or a sax or some keys and it's..cool but there's no actually feeling behind it just a bunch of technique.

Think the issue with both jazz and hip hop as you put it, is that the internet has made it so that EVERYONE can see how the magic works. Hence why people think what the futures are doing is easy. Is that the south's fault or is that the fault of the eventual commodification of art?
