These rules and guidelines are a work in progress

most of this is common sense and pretty much boils down to "don't be a d***"

breaking the rules can result in a warning, a temporary mute, or a permanent ban for serious/repeat cases. — but most users haven't been muted/banned (and most mutes are short)

sometimes mistakes are made. mutes/bans can be appealed by email

Absolutely NO racism / antisemitism / homophobia / transphobia / misogyny or any other form of hate speech

Don't post or link to anything illegal

Don't abuse/harass/threaten other users — remember you're talking to real people

Don't post photos or personal information of other users without their permission

Don't spam (including spamming the same image/text multiple times to the point that people find it annoying)

Don't repurpose an old thread to be about a different topic, just make a new one. (The replies make no sense when people do this)

Don't post nudity/gore/graphic violence. This includes images people wouldn’t be cool with at school
    or work.

Don't start or encourage the h****posting in large threads. There's other places you can go if you wanna see that.

Don't post anything to intentionally cause harm to other users, the mods, site, or site staff

    Don't make bait threads/spam threads

Don't pretend to be another user, artist or other celebrity

Don't spread misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic

    and just have fun

    About our COVID-19 rule

COVID-19 is the most serious global health crisis in a hundred years. It has directly killed at least 800,000 people, and many more are dying or suffering from its impact. It could be decades before we know the full extent of the damage caused by this virus, if ever.

Misinformation about the pandemic is killing people

It can't be said any more clearly than that, but COVID-19 misinformation is everywhere. A lot of it is even being created and/or amplified by organized disinformation campaigns intending to cause us harm (sources below).

People on this site have a wide range of opinions and political ideas, and that isn't a problem — but there is a limit (for example, civil rights are not a matter of debate; racism is not a "valid political view").

The existence and severity of COVID-19 is not (and should not be) a political issue.

Calling the pandemic a hoax, severely downplaying the seriousness of it, or attributing it to conspiracy theories (e.g., "Bill Gates developed the virus as a way to implant chips into us with the vaccination") is not tolerated here. (This has been the case since March 2020).

    From the COVID-19 thread:

Do NOT post misinformation or conspiracy theories

You could be muted for up to 3 months or even permanently banned.
