I wasn’t even gonna make a thread on this but I made a video talking about r&b this year. Niggas too cool for school. R&b missing a bunch but people rarely speaks how r&b used to be motivational and include social messages. Outside of the obvious problems r&b have, those motivational/socially conscious r&b songs used to be #1 songs in the country and now they don’t even exist
You saying the genre is cooked when Leon Thomas wrote two of the best and most successful rnb songs this decade
Session players are expensive and a lot of artists are broke. Good production is expensive as ever. D'Mile gotta feed his family too, lol. The slant on relationships has changed and people are as sexless as ever as people spend less time in third places and more time on the internet.
The economic and social conditions for the R&B you're looking for are less and less.
Giveon coming. Both those singles been good. If Miguel ever drop we might have something too smh
Do you have a link to the tape?

Blood Orange, Sampha, DAngelo, Thundercat, Paak and a few more have had socially conscious songs, and even some political

Lack of vocal prowess is a huge problem, especially when people have become more disconnected from the church.

But I give credit to @Garcon who brought it to my attention. That man is a real one

@op
Quick question? Can people still have vocal prowess and still be disconnected from the Church?

That's if they practice vocals daily and study more classic R&B or Gospel singers.
