the whole tape tbh, it wasn’t mixed at all and the clipping was very bad

i was at a function when it leaked and played it on their sound system, almost crashed the party

Not unlistenable but: there was a specific type of late 2010s beat where the snare (or clap/rim I guess) was weirdly quiet to the point the beat didn't knock like it should.

Also hated that 2019 era style of beat that people like DaBaby loved that had with no kick and just had a fat 808 in its place, it never knocked properly. Bonus if it had a corny flute or guitar loop as the lead

Also the 2023 "Sexy Drill" trend never worked for me personally, never knocked the same way as 2020 UK/Pop Smoke-style drill beats which I still love. Got played out but it was probably the last new wave I found fresh, especially the sliding 808s

Random one but J Cole's 7 Minute Drill beat (the first half) is one of my least favorite in recent memory. Idk why but the stock sounds (?) are really grating and it sounds so cheap to me

A lot of the beats on fall off are aggressively average too
