  • because they often use this as an excuse to try to go pop or play on something in vogue unsucessfully under the semantic aegis of "well i haven't done it before, so it's new to me". you don't get any points trying to be catchy because it's the predominate form of music enjoying the most success. pushing your sound is more than reaching for that.

    thats it

more annoyed with the travis scotts of the world that think pullin gaspar noe for s*** elevates ur work or that online the only thing that passes for being "experimental" is if ur music sounds like hyperpop/lil ugly mane/death grips - but doesnt apply to all the Black artists who actually push the needle forward every year in less overt, attention seeking ways

I hate when artist even refer to their own work as experimental. thats something that the audience is supposed to determine

i meant examples for the artists doing it in less overt/attention seeking ways. i be tryna find different s*** that’s not peggy sounding stuff

  • JPeG mafia is too pretentious for me to consider it truly experimental. Its too performative. the fact he named his album “Experimental Rap” to position himself as the forerunner of the genre was so lame to me.

Cant deny he has great production though.
