  • I remember in college linking up with my friends to hotbox for Kanye drops, just for him to do the traditional lying about a release date as a rollout,

There would be probably close to 10 to 15 nights where we planned out an album the night , or even me just staying at home waiting for the drop.

    wyomming era/JIK comes to mind,

  • None because I'm always waiting till it actually drops to host a listening party

  • I think he got me on jik and ye after that I learned my lesson

  • Ye was the first and last time

  • Never stayed up specifically for his album but I would be refreshing AM/spotify at midnight

He hasn’t dropped an album on time since 2013

  • i lost so much sleep in tlop era

  • Zero. Timezone advantage

  • Saturday

    ♥️

  • Yeah I à

  • Never. I wake up and listen to it in the morning and if it's not there oh well

  • I think DONDA WITH CHILD was the moment I didn't care enough to fall for it anymore. After that, the Donda LPs were recorded so it didn't matter if it dropped officially or not.

Idk how people even care beyond that. A bunch of new gens/tiktok kids just want to be there for new Ye albums but they're mediocre with occassional gems.

  • staying up for another man

  • Every time, buddy. Every time

  • never, am I a real Kanye Stan now?

  • Too many

  • only for ye, learned my lesson then

I think the worst was the first College Dropout release date. I remember being at the CD store in 2004 with like $15 in my pocket, refreshing KanyeWeb every 5 minutes on the store PC and waiting for them to put the album on the shelf. Everybody on the message boards was saying it was definitely dropping that day. I even had the AOL Instant Messenger away message set to “COLLEGE DROPOUT TODAY!!!” lol.

Then some dude came out from the back and said Def Jam had pushed it back again. Absolute devastation. I went home, logged onto AIM, checked my Kazaa queue and spent the night downloading random “new Kanye” tracks that turned out to be fake. I think I stayed up until like 4:30 AM listening to low-quality 128kbps leaks on RealPlayer.

Damn this the most millennial thing I've ever read. This is considered retro to a lot of kids nowadays

808s and Heartbreaks (a day early), MBDTF, and Yeezus are the only albums he ever dropped on time

Besides that @robotney right lol. College Dropout was supposed to drop a year prior. That kinda was out of his control tho cause most people that dealt with leaks in that era, deal with label issues, AND end up in life threatening car accidents are pushing back their albums lmao. We literally got Jesus Walks and Through the Wire because of it so imo best pushback of all time.

Late Registration (been bullshitting but I finally arrived wit it. I know it’s late and I took all year but you can stop complaining cause I’m finally here) and Graduation is when you get the “lol delayed he’s still finishing mixdowns” updates. Bro was a perfectionist to his detriment from day 1.
