goldlink's 'career' was never nothing to begin with no matter the tweets
Genius: this man stretched his fifteen minutes of fame across an entire decade
Haven’t listened to the song yet but I’d kind of be mad too if people kept bringing up this one bad post that I made years ago. Especially considering Goldlink still makes good music. But that’s just my opinion. That post about Mac Miller was terrible and he should’ve got all the smoke for it. But that’s over now. It’s been over. It’s time to move on. And these blue check accounts that just post s*** for engagement?? Don’t even get me started on that
i think people pin so much on the mac post but really i don't think goldlink knew how to grow his sound post-Diaspora. his early music was so great and unique but he didn't really know how to go forward with it for the bigger audience Crew gained him. the mac s*** definitely dampened perception but really i don't think his career would be much different otherwise

It’s just crazy to do that fam
You can’t look at a nigga the same after that
Yes in the grand scheme of things, it’s not unforgivable in the same way of a Roman Polanski or R. Kelly, but if I was an artist and considered him a frequent collaborator, I would definitely think twice before rocking with him again. And it’s the same for a fan. I actually liked his early music, At What Cost is an incredible album. His debut, and after that we didn’t talk was also really dope. But it really ruins your relationships with people

He just wouldn’t have to deal with annoying blue checks on twitter and people who were apparently Malcolm’s biggest fans bothering him on twitter for years (not saying Mac wasn’t popping im just talking about a specific kind of fan that comes around after a artist passes)
Straight coworker music

I’m ngl lowkey OG tweet seems astroturfed af lol. I feel you though. End of the day dude has an undeniable timeless smash song but outside of that he wasn’t really that poppin imo at least and that song dropped 10 years ago. Mac s*** was the icing on the cake more than the catalyst. I say this as someone who enjoys several of his songs too so I’m not even trying to hate

I understand not f***ing with him. that I get! I mean I definitely was put off by him for years after that.
What I will say is that my issue specifically is in regards to people's insistence on bringing it up and how frustrating that could be for someone who is trying to continue on with their career.

and that's also my issue with the original post because niggas was acting Goldlink was about to be this chart topping artist IF NOT for making that post about mac miller.
that was never his trajectory.

Diaspora was so fun too
Diaspora was so fun too
I never got into that album. And I was into Goldlink back then heavy. Actually when he first dropped I was In that OGKTT thread supporting. But honestly by the time Diaspora dropped I fell off from him and the Mac post was a dagger.
I don’t think his career should’ve been clipped because of it tho, I feel like he should’ve put out better music.

Diaspora was good, that song with Tyler probably one of his best songs. His album after that had a song with Flo Milli I like too but it's been a while since I listened to him though tbh
He flowin. And that beat is never gon' miss

I remember he dropped an album during the pandemic that was him rapping over some weird ass beats
His problem was never making a song anywhere near as good as Sober thoughts
When I die*
